Listening to God

Listening to God

11 September 2017 by Alison Tsang in Isolation.

Over the summer I had the pleasure to meet with Fr Richard Bastable of St Lukes W12, to hear how the church is meeting the needs of its local community through offering a space called Crafternoon Tea.

Crafternoon Tea is the parish’s response following on from a community audit. Crafternoon Tea meet the need of a communal space in W12 for local residents to come together as well as drawing in outside agencies to address issues such as financial management and healthy affordable menus.

This simple and effective offer is, as one guest put it: “The highlight of my week.”

Joining us at the Launch of Just Finance Foundation London.

So you can hear even more inspiring stories like that at St LukesW12 and how your parish can listen and engage.

Wed 20th September 2017, 7-9pm at St John on Bethnal Green

Tues 26th September 2017, 7-9pm at St John’s West Ealing

Wed 27th September 2017, 7-9pm at St James Piccadilly

The launch will take place at three individual evening events across the Diocese in order that all can attend and will be an opportunity for church leaders and volunteers to:

  1. be inspired as to why this work matters as part of the Church’s mission

  2. hear stories of hope and encouragement about things already happening and meet those in the parishes who are doing it

  3. connect with a rich range of resources and ideas available for parishes to respond to local need

At each evening, a keynote speaker will draw us deeper into the landscape surrounding Debt and Financial Exclusion, there will be opportunities to hear from parishes already engaged and a marketplace where you can meet local partners.
