Tottenham Schools Festival 2018

This year’s Tottenham Schools Festival was a great success and a joy to be part of. The team at St Ann’s South Tottenham worked with staff from Hope in Tottenham, who also funded the event, to welcome 2,250 children, their teachers and other guests to celebrate the hope that is in our community. Representing 15 schools from across Haringey, the students expressed themselves through music, song and dance in six separate performances.

Once again we partnered with MPS Taskforce officers from the TSG, Mounted Branch and Dogs Section as they helped teach the children about the importance of ‘Stop and Search’ in community policing and how it can help keep them and their families safe. Police horses also visited 6 other local schools, where children got the opportunity to meet them and their officers in the playground.

“Hope in Tottenham allows the MPS a great opportunity to support and be involved with the work of raising the confidence young people have in their local police.” Former Chief Supt. Victor Olisa, Head of Diversity MPS

This year we piloted an Ambassador Programme with Heartlands Secondary School, where high achievers from Year 10 came to encourage the younger students in their education and dreams. It was a great success and something we intend to build on in 2019.

So a big thank you to all who were involved, with lots to hope for in the future
