We are all concerned about the difficulties facing young people as they grow up in this city, but often feel we are powerless to tackle Serious Youth Violence.
But we can do things individually that will change our city.
This evening, hosted by the Right Revd Rob Wickham, Bishop of Edmonton will explore what we can do around becoming mentors to our families and young people in our communities.
In our “ones and twos” which can transform lives, if we offer to get alongside one child, young person or parents. If that was spread across the Diocese, even if every church put forward one person to mentor - it would change hundreds of lives, hundreds of households, and make the city safer for our young people.
We’ll hear from three organisations offering Mentoring training and support to churches:
XLP - who offer training and support for those who can mentor young people and young adults
TLG - who offer programmes to help mentor those primary age children who may be identified as being at risk
Safe Families - who offer befriending training programme for the wider family - parents, siblings and carers
This session - run in partnership with Compassionate Communities and the Children & Youth Team - will be positive, encouraging and offer expert wisdom, as well as room for question and discussion.
The session will be recorded; we will finish by 8.30pm.
